Spirit Lake Ministry, Spirit Lake Nation, North Dakota—Spirit Lake Ministry kicked off the Lenten Season with a portrayal of Peter, the disciple who denied Jesus three times.
Gary Osborn of Fairmont, North Dakota traveled to the Spirit Lake Ministry Center to share his talent with congregation and others of the Spirit Lake Nation. His passionate portrayal mesmerized those in attendance.
“I watched in awe as Peter cane to life in Arthur Hall,” said Pastor Mike Flowers, Spirit Lake. “The portrayal of Peter kicked off our Lenten Study on Peter—The Fragile Stone. We will be meeting on Wednesday evenings to learn more about Jesus' best friend and to share soup and sandwiches with our friends and congregation."
Spirit Lake Ministry Center began a weekly worship on Easter 2016 in Arthur Hall. The new worship space, a dream of Mike and Libby Flowers, co-directors at Spirit Lake, became a reality after a successful fundraising campaign. With the help of donors from all over the country, many having volunteered on the reservation in past years, and two significant donations, the dream became a reality.
Arthur Hall was completed on Friday, March 25,2016 just in time for 47 of our friends and neighbors to attend an Easter meal and the first United Methodist worship service on the Spirit Lake reservation.
“We are very excited about our first full Easter season together as a congregation,” said Flowers. “As we come up on Easter, our first worship service last year, we stand in awe at the way God has moved in our lives.”
