Candidacy for ordained ministry is the first formal step toward ordination as a deacon or an elder, or licensing in The United Methodist Church.
How do I begin the process? Your first step is to write to the district superintendent (DS) including your statement of call and request admission to the candidacy process and assignment of a candidacy mentor. The DS and district committee will assign a candidacy mentor; the DS office will send you an email invitation, which includes instructions to log in, create a password, and enroll online in candidacy.
