Dakotas delegations share thoughts about Revised Social Principles and bishop numbers

By: Dave Stucke, communications associate, and Doreen Gosmire, director of communication, Dakotas UMC

On Monday, April 29, 2024 at General Conference in Charlotte, N.C., the Dakotas Conference delegation took time to talk about the Revised Social Principles, the number of bishops in African, how Bishops get assigned, and other highlights.

Revised Social Principles: General Conference delegates passed another batch of Revised Social Principles on Tuesday, April 30. Read about earlier affirmations of the revised social principals.

Number of bishops in Africa and the United States: The United Methodist Church in Africa is getting two additional bishops, but not the five originally planned by the 2016 General Conference.  The number of bishops in the United States is determined by the Interjurisdictional Episcopacy Committe. Beata Ferris and Rev. Sara Nelson are members of that committee. Beata Ferris is the secretary of that committee.
