(Written by Becky Holten, Dakotas Conference Director of Camping and Youth Ministries)
Please join me in welcoming Hilary Satrang to the camping family as the interim site director at Wesley Acres Camp. Hilary is a South Dakota native and recently finished her Master of Divinity at Sioux Falls Seminary. Hilary has worked at several camps in South Dakota and is leaving a weekend cooking/hospitality position at Outlaw Ranch in the Black Hills to join the Dakotas Conference camping leadership team. In addition, Hilary has been serving as the parish administrator at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Rapid City. She brings a love of camping and a love for people to this ministry and an openness and willingness to learn and help the camping ministry grow.
The Board of Camping and Retreat Ministry and the camping staff are committed to fruitful, measurable ministry at all three of our camps. We are currently working with Jody Oates of Kaleidoscope to align the camping ministry with the four vision pathways of the Conference’s Journey to Vitality and identify common, measurable outcomes for the camping ministry. As alignment and outcomes become more focused we will be better able to determine the operating and staffing models for all three camps which will help us accomplish our goals in a relevant and sustainable way.
We ask for your continued prayers for the camping ministry in this journey of discernment and for Hilary in her ministry at Wesley Acres Camp and Retreat Center.
Together in ministry,
Becky Holten
