WATFORD CITY, N.D.—The story of the birth of Jesus, notes with blessings written on them, a ventriloquist, presents and food were all part of the scene in Watford City, North Dakota on Sunday, December 4. The Bakken Oil Rush Ministry held their annual Christmas event at the Civic Center with over 189 in attendance, including 89 children.

“The place was packed. I do not think we could fit another 5-10 people in the room,” said Pastor Jim Konsor, Bakken Oil Rush Ministry.

Kids received presents, heard the Christmas story, enjoyed the ventriloquist, Andy the dummy, sang carols, ate Christmas goodies and tossed balloons around at the end to lively Christmas tunes.

Volunteers and community members provided support to make the event happen. Funds for the event came from the Living Faith Church, Blue Lube Oil, Myers Department store, Thrivent and several individuals.  Those in attendance enjoyed over 600 Christmas goodies that were provided by volunteers from throughout the community. “We cannot thank the 36 plus volunteers enough for the help to pull off an event like this,” said Jim Konsor, “Wow, what a night!”

Those that gathered left notes on the table like:

”We love you so much and can’t thank you enough for what the Bakken Oil Rush Ministry does.”

“The Bakken Oil Rush Ministry has been a tremendous support this past year. I don’t know what I would have done without you. This ministry is about more than warm clothes, you spread warmth and peace and set an example for others.”

Jim and Kathie Konsor, with the help of volunteers, continue to collect, sort donations and get items ready for sale in the thrift store.  This last month over $1,800 of clothing and small household items were sold with prices ranging of $1-5. The ministry is in the process of securing a permanent location building for the thrift store.
