Congregational Care Workshop

Caring Congregation 3

Congregational Care, for both clergy and lay members, can be daunting.  The needs are many and varied and can be overwhelming.  Nationally renowned expert, Rev. Karen Lampe, will lead a 2-day Congregational Care Ministry Workshop vitually, November 12-13, 2020.  A training that will teach churches how to organize their care ministries and train participants to provide compassionate care for people experiencing a variety of life crises.

Rev. Karen Lampe served as the Executive Pastor for Congregational Care at The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas, for twelve years.  Serving alongside Rev. Adam Hamilton, she created a model of care that empowered lay people to become Congregational Care Ministers (CCMs) who work alongside their pastors.  Karen has authored two books and has taught this model of care to churches throughout the U.S.  She believes that no matter what size the church, "care" is the heart of the church and when you can do this part of church well it draws people to your faith community.  Her enthusiasm for the CCM program is contagious as she calls everyone to use the experiences of their lives to build the kingdom.

Learn how to care for each other and the people in your community during this pandemic.  If you have participated in this workshop before, this will qualify as recertification as there is much new information in light of how COVID—19  pandemic has impacted care ministry.

Pastors, recruit a team and make plans to join us!  Start by praying for and building your team of at least two laity from your church.  Larger churches often have a team of 5-10 - this workshop will help you create and grow this ministry.  Congregational Care Ministers are lay persons empowered to share their gifts of ministry.

This virtuural worshop is sponsored by SIOUX FALLS FIRST and has three costs levels:

  1. Pastor or Congregational Care Team Leader fee: Includes registration, books, prayer cards, anointing oils and certification for yourself and every member of your team is $60.00
  2. Additional Team Member registration fee  is $30.00.
  3. Certified Congregational Care Minister re-certification registration fee is $20.00
