Exodus 3:11-12 "Accepting God's Call"

How many times have you heard the phrase, “God will never give you any more than you can handle”? Every time I hear these words, I wince a little. Anyone who has ever tasted suffering – anyone who has lost a parent or a sibling or a close friend, has received a horrifying medical diagnosis, has been bullied or abused – any of these people will tell you they have experienced moments or days or weeks or years when they felt they were carrying far more than they could possibly handle. And don't you imagine that Moses must have felt that way when God called him to deliver an entire people out of Egypt?

What our good and merciful God promises is not a life free from pain or hardship, but a way to make it through. “I will be with you," God says. “No matter where you go, no matter how bad it is, I will be with you. This is who I Am, and this is the promise I have made to you.”
