In our hearts: Cheryl Finney
Cheryl Finney, 70, died on Monday, July 20, 2026. Cheryl was the Dakotas Conference Historian and daughter of the late Rev. Charles Finney, Dakotas Conference elder.
Cheryl joined the Dakotas Conference Commission on Archives and History in 2006 and served as vice-chair from 2010 to 2017. She became conference historian in 2017, after Conference Historian Rev. Charles Finney, her father, passed away. As conference historian, Cheryl continued to serve on the Commission on Archives and History. Cheryl also was a member of the Dakotas United Methodist Historical Society, which disbanded in 2025.
Cheryl's funeral service will be held on Friday, July 31, at 11:00 a.m., CDT, with visitation at 10:00 a.m., at Sioux Falls First United Methodist Church, 401 S. Spring Ave, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
