Dakotas United Methodists are invited to participate in a shared act of generosity through our 2026 Miracle Offering, “From the Wellspring: Faith That Learns, Love That Serves.”
Resident Bishop Lanette Plambeck sat down with Bishop Bruce R. Ough, retired, formerly of the Dakotas-Minnesota Area, to hear more about our Dakotas Miracle Offering and the denomination-wide campaign to support theological education in Africa, the Philippines, and Europe, which half of our Dakotas Miracle Offering will support. Bishop Ough worked on the development of the Miracle Sunday Initiative, which was founded by the Council of Bishops and has been embraced by UMC congregations and conferences around the world.
One-half of the offering will support the Endowment for Theological Education in Africa, the Philippines, and Europe, helping United Methodists outside the United States access theological education and prepare for pastoral leadership. Our gift will be part of the worldwide Miracle Sunday appeal, meant not only to serve students today but also to financially support the preparation of pastors for generations whose leadership will nourish congregations. Bishop Ough shared his vision for the endowment fund while in Mitchell, South Dakota, in April, 2026.
Knowing the importance of Bishop Ough's roots and relationships in the Area, Bishop Lanette took time to ask about his retirement activities, pastimes, volunteer work, and his beloved wife, Char.
