Safe 1 John 5:9-10

Most of the really big news we get comes by way of others, especially from those whose job it is to inform us about what is going on in the larger world - you know, talking heads on the TV news shows and such.

Learning about Jesus, for most of us, happened in much the same way – from others. Your dad read a Bible story to you; a Sunday School teacher – with paste and magazine cutouts – helped you to express that same story on construction paper; or maybe a friend pulled you aside one day to tell you how Jesus changed her life.

Those are very important sources for learning the gospel story, but they are not the most authoritative.

No, the best source for understanding Jesus is God, who sent Jesus to show us how to live, and now continues to speak to our hearts. We’d better listen!
