Streams of Justice Award 2013
The Peace and Justice Focus Team of the Extending Link of the Dakotas Annual Conference would like to lift up and celebrate ministries of justice taking place in our conference. “The Streams of Justice” annual award calls attention to a United Methodist sponsored program or event which promotes justice in our Annual Conference.
Ministries on Native American reservations, local churches and outreach centers in communities (rural and urban), and state-wide and regional organizations which have programs that offer components of justice education, advocacy and empowerment in addition to material assistance and spiritual support are encouraged to apply.
A cash stipend of $500 will accompany the award along with a copy of the “Poverty & Justice Bible” (with passages highlighted in orange) from the American Bible Society.
Nominations may be submitted by individuals or organizations. Funds will be disbursed only to churches, agencies or organizations and not to individuals. In the case that an individual is honored with the award, they may direct the cash gift to an organization of their choosing which promotes justice ministry.
Nominations will be accepted until April 17th, and will be evaluated by the The Peace and Justice Focus Team of the Connectional Link. Criteria include but are not limited to:
Target population served by ministry
Impact and effectiveness of ministry
Alignment with Biblical principles of justice
Duration of Commitment to ministry
