Barbara Kroger, age 89, formerly of Madison, South Dakota, died Tuesday, February 24, 2026, under hospice care in Arden Hills, Minnesota. Barbara is the spouse of the late Reverend Gene Kroger, mother of the Reverend Greg Kroger, and grandmother of the Reverend Karl Kroger, all elders of the Dakotas Conference.
Together, Barbara and Gene served in the Dakotas Conference at Ellis, Wakonda / Irene / Viborg, Dell Rapids / Colman, Rapid City South Maple, and as the Central District Superintendent.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 13, 2026, at Madison United Methodist Church in Madison, South Dakota, with burial at Rosehill Cemetery in Parker, South Dakota at 2:00 p.m. Family will be present for a visitation from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, at Ellsworth Funeral Home, 321 North Egan Avenue, Madison, South Dakota. Visitation will also be at the church one hour prior to services on Friday.
