Reverend Janis Sue Kana-Mackey, 71, of Hampden, ND, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Altru Hospital, Devils Lake, North Dakota. Reverend Kana-Mackey was a retired elder of the Dakotas Conference.
Reverend Kana-Mackey served Dakotas Conference churches at Starkweather UMC, Edmore UMC, and Hampden UMC. Additionally, she served parishes at Lakota UCC, Michigan UCC, Michigan ELCA, and Sarnia United ELCA.
Funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Langdon, North Dakota, on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. CDT. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at the Storlie Cemetery of rural Hampden, ND, following the funeral.
