Each year, Dakotas United Methodists join together in a collective witness of gratitude and hope as we unite our gifts and our service for the Bishop's Thanksgiving Offering. As part of the 2025 Thanksgiving Offering, Bishop Lanette not only invited monetary donations to support the work of Feeding South Dakota and the Great Plains Food Bank of North Dakota, she also challenged churches to "tell a powerful story of love in action" in their local contexts. She encouraged Dakotas United Methodists to partner with local organizations in their communities that are addressing hunger challenges, providing assistance for shelter and energy, offering healthcare support, or meeting other basic human needs. These acts of service and generosity would be "tangible expressions of God’s love—ways of tending all of God’s creation together."
Below are just a few of the ways in which Dakotas United Methodists have responded to that invitation and challenge and the impact they see it having in their communities.
