Worship brings us into the presence of God uniting us with the saints in glory and believers around world.  True worship expresses our praise while inspiring us to live out the values of the reign of 

God. Christ’s way, example and teaching is lifted up, and we are forgiven and renewed to serve in mission and ministry in his name wherever we go through out the rest of the week.

“Music is prayer without words,” and First UMC in Jamestown is blessed with gifted musicians and singers. There is also a dedicated cadre of multi-media folks who coordinate the projection, live-streaming and recording of the service.  In-person worship resumed on June 21st with COVID-19 precautions to keep worshippers safe. Our worship is designed to encourage a joyful and dedicated faith in Christ who leads us into ministries of mercy, advocacy, justice and love.

Pastor Marty describes the protocols, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, that First UMC in Jamestown has in place: We have a taskforce which sets policies for activities taking place in the building to keep everyone safe from the spread of COVID-19. Facemasks are required at all group activities (except in the day care center which has its own safety procedures), and physical distancing and temperature checks are required, too.  Singing is allowed in worship, but people are instructed to sing softly or hum along. We are watching infection trends in the area and also basing our policies on the guidelines being made by the local school district and authorities.  We are staying nimble as we monitor the situation.  Rev. Michelle Brennen, who serves as the Director of Family Life at First UMC, and the lay leaders have been working hard as we figure out a new normal as we go forward through this crisis.
