Safer Sanctuaries: Building Trust and Care
Creating safer sanctuary spaces in our churches is a life-giving ministry that strengthens our congregations and ensures the safety and well-being of all people. This sacred work helps us honor every child of God by promoting security, trust, and care within our churches.
Safer Sanctuaries policies should be reviewed and updated each year to reflect changes in ministry, staffing, and building use. Volunteers serving with children, youth, and vulnerable adults must also complete annual training, and churches are responsible for updating policies, training volunteers, and running background checks.
Our Dakotas Conference Safer Sanctuaries leaders, Brenda Lint and Beata Ferris, are here to support you. Connect with them for policy reviews, to schedule a training session, or for guidance as you ensure safer sanctuaries practices are lived out in your congregation.
