2025 Bishop’s Advent Study
Plan now to participate in the 2025 Advent Study led by Bishop Lanette. In this study, United Methodists across the Dakotas and Minnesota are invited to read "A Child is Born" by Amy-Jill Levine. The study delves into the narratives of Isaac and Ishmael, Moses, and Samuel to reveal how they foreshadow and enrich the timeless Christmas story. Levine shows readers how Scripture's earlier birth stories anticipate the story of Jesus’s birth and how the birth resonates and gives new meaning to those earlier stories. Transform your Advent season with fresh insights and inspiration from "A Child is Born."
Similar to previous years, discussions will be held via Zoom on Monday evenings, Dec. 1-22. All are welcome! Book or e-books available now. Videos will be available via Amplify later this fall.

Luke-Acts Reading
In Acts 11:27-30, the disciples learn hear that a famine is predicted that would impact the entire Roman empire. There response was that "as each one was able" they would provide for "the brothers and sisters living in Judea. How do you interpret "as each one was able"? It can be easy to compare our discipleship to others - judging other as "more or less faithful" if their response is different than ours. What helps you stay attuned to the Spirit so you can respond to needs not simply to live up to expectations but to show gracious compassion to those who might never return the generosity? Additional Resource: Resources from GBCS about economic, health, and gender justice.
