25th session of the Dakotas Annual Conference Register here
“Discover Joy: Live Deeply”—Our theme for the 25th session of the Dakotas Annual Conference will focus on the scriptual imperative—growing in love of God and neighbor (Matthew 22:37-40). We will celebrate the ways in which we are inviting others to become disciples of God and how we are discovering joy and living our lives in deep, meaningful, ways that are far beyond our imagination to grow in love of God and neighbor. Join us June 7-9, 2018 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. Come experience powerful worship, rich learning opportunities in workshops and plenary sessions, fellowship with United Methodists across North and South Dakota.
Guest teaching pastor: Rev. Olu Brown will be our teaching pastor at the Dakotas Annual Conference, June 7-9, 2018, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Rev. Brown is a founding leader of Impact Church, a young congregation in the East Point community of metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia. With Olu’s vision and leadership, since its founding in 2007, Impact has grown from a core team of 25 people to more than 1,800 attendees each Sunday, making it one of the fastest growing United Methodist Churches (UMC) and new church starts in the United States.
Olu strongly believes in an active church, one that makes a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and communities. Rev. Brown has written Zero to 80: Innovative Ideas for Planting and Accelerating Church Growth (2010), Leadership Directions from Moses: On the Way to a Promised Land (2017), and was a contributor to Flipping Church: How Successful Church Planters are Turning Conventional Wisdom Upside-Down (2016).
Worship designer and leader: Chuck Bell has served as music director and worship designer in United Methodist churches since 1996. Bell has also served in worship ministries in other denominations since 1988. The last 18 years, he has actively planned and produced more than 3,500 corporate worship services in varying worship styles. He served as the Coordinator of Musicians for the 2012 General Conference of The United Methodist Church, where he assisted Dr. Marcia McFee in planning, musically directing and executing 27 worship services in 10 days. We look forward to Chuck's musical talents and his organizational and planning gifts to not only enhance our conference. Conference participants will take worship tools to home to their local churches.
